Today, I will post about the traditional food of cirebon Indonesia, including the following below.


  • Empal Gentong
  • Nasi Lengko ( Lengko rice )
  • Nasi Jamblang ( Jamblang rice )
  • Bubur Sop ayam
  • Tahu Gejrot
1. Empal gentong
Empal gentong is a spicy curry-like beef soup originated from Cirebon, West Java. This soup is similar to gulai that usually cooked with firewood stove in gentong (Indonesian for: clay pot). The ingredients are parts of beef meat, intestine, tripes, lungs, etc. cooked in curry-like spices in coconut milk, kucai and sambal in the form of chilli powder. Empal gentong can be eaten with steamed rice, ketupat or lontong. Empal gentong originated from Battembat village, kecamatan Tengah Tani, Cirebon regency.
 
 2. Nasi lengko/Sega lengko  (Lengko rice)

Sega Lengko (Nasi lengko in Indonesian, Lengko rice in English) is a typical cirebonese dish in Cirebon, Indramayu, Brebes, Tegal and surrounding areas. The ingredients are white rice (better hot), fried tempeh, fried tofu, cucumbers (fresh raw, chopped), bean sprouts (boiled), leaves of chives (cut into small pieces), fried onions, peanut sauce (such as salad seasoning, spicy or not, depending on taste), and a thin soy sauce poured over the top. Fried tempeh and tofu are cut into small pieces and placed on a plate of rice. Chopped cucumber is sprinkled on top. Well-cooked bean sprouts and peanut sauce are poured over it, with pieces of spring onion leaves. After this it is given a taste of soy sauce until browned, and sprinkled with fried onions. Aci crackers and a piece of white, round or square kondimennya. Kerupuknya smeared with ketchup is a popular appetizer. This food is usually served with 5 or 10 satay in another dish.

 3. Nasi jamblang/Sega jamblang (Jamblang rice)
Sega jamblang (Nasi jamblang in Indonesian, Rice jamblang in English) is a typical food of Cirebon, West Java. "Jamblang" comes from the name of the region to the west of the city of Cirebon, home of the food vendors. Characteristic of these foods is the use of teak as a pack of rice leaves. The dish is served via a buffet.  
Menu: 
Menus are usually available which include chili fries, tofu vegetables, lung (troop), liver or meat stews, cakes, satay potatoes, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, cooked chili, stewed fish, salted fish, tofu and tempeh.

 4. Bubur Sop Ayam (Chiken soup porridge)
Do you love breakfast with porridge chicken? If the answer is yes, then you should try the typical food Cirebon this one. If chicken porridge usually consists only of white porridge toppings were shredded chicken meat, eggs, liver and gizzard soy sauce, then chicken soup porridge Cirebon as the name implies is a chicken porridge soup served with a sauce. Fresh soup broth is made from chicken broth mixed with spices so that when you eat it will feel a warm sensation in the throat. In addition to soup, porridge is also given a unique extra glass noodles, shredded cabbage, soybeans, and a sprinkling of starch that has been crushed crackers. Eat good food match day or night is the most fitting enjoyed while warm. Porridge delicious chicken soup famous in the city of Cirebon is located in the area Plered chicken soup and porridge with extra ribs that can be found in the Sumber area.


5. Tahu Gejrot
Tahu Gejrot is a characteristic food from Cirebon, Indonesia. Tahu gejrot is consisted of fried tofu which was then cut into small pieces and eaten with adequate amount of marinade sauce that is from blending brown sugar, vinegar, and sweet soy sauce. Usually served in small layah with garlic and/or chili cut into pieces.
